Even lesser infringements can see 4% of turnover penalties. This means a U.S. company ignoring the AI Act could face fines in the same league as GDPR fines, which have reached into the hundreds of millions for big tech firms. The Act also creates national supervisory authorities and a European AI Board to oversee compliance.
